From my perspective, the promise of technology is prevention, as in its ability to prevent bad things from happening. With so many people and things to look after in any given environment, a lot can go wrong – the worst being loss of life.
Since our founding in 2001, Status Solutions’ mission has been to defeat ignorance-based loss with situational awareness technology. For us, situational awareness isn’t just a product category, nor is it merely a software application or a 9-to-5 job – it’s our cause, our contribution to society.
Historically a military term referring to a pilot’s operational status and knowledge of immediate threats, “situational awareness” in today’s world refers to real-time information about the operational status of an entity, especially the safety of associated people and property. In addition to emergency alerting, situational awareness also applies to business operations and making personnel aware of potential problems before they become costly disruptions.
And because the world is now full of screens – big ones like those on digital billboards and small ones like those on mobile devices – our goal is getting information to all of them so action can be taken to save lives and property, protect business continuity, and prevent loss of convenience/comfort.
Moving into 2014, we’ll continue to educate the marketplace about situational awareness and evangelize its ability to prevent bad things from happening by improving communication and information flow. The goal is to ensure that customers’ existing alarm systems, communication networks and response plans work in tandem for the best possible outcomes.
Looking at societal megatrends, as well as the specific needs of our customers and the industries they serve, our solutions will evolve with new features and benefits. In fact, our customer satisfaction survey is underway, and we will take that feedback into serious consideration as we seek to continually improve how we ourselves do things.
But the overarching purpose is preparedness with freshness and readiness as the basis of our brand promise.
So enjoy the Holiday Season and get ready for the New Year. That’s what we’re doing.
