Wynwood of Allenmore, part of Brookdale Senior Living, offers personalized assisted living options for seniors, with 68 suites as well as communal areas for socializing, dining and entertainment. Its sister property, The Villas at Union Park, has 118 independent living units. Both communities needed to replace an antiquated and problematic emergency response system, as well as improve response times and service to residents.

Wynwood turned to Status Solutions in 2010 to implement SARA (Situational Awareness and Response Assistant) as the alerting engine for nurse call through pull cords and personal pendants. SARA generates reports with all nurse calls and their associated response times, used with staff to improve service to residents. The community also uses reports for preventative maintenance to detect low batteries within the alerting devices. In addition to nurse call, Wynwood uses SARA for other life safety and security applications. For example, the smoke detectors are integrated with pages going to RAs and the director of engineering if an alarm goes off. He says he’s sure “[SARA] has saved lives and alleviated a lot of pain and suffering” for those residents who’ve experienced emergencies, particularly falls, since its implementation.
