Lindner Center of HOPE (LCOH) is a state-of-the-science freestanding mental health center in Mason, Ohio. Its 36-acre facility is built to serve 1,400 inpatient stays and 29,000 outpatient visits annually. LCOH provides psychiatric hospitalization for patients aged 12 and older, outpatient services for all ages, research, comprehensive assessment and residential services. When the center opened in 2008, it installed SARA for automated alerting. Later, it turned to Status Solutions to upgrade the pendant system integrated with SARA, equipping approximately 90 staff with mobile duress to ensure both employee and patient safety.
“The solution has worked well, and the implementation was truly a partnership between us and Status Solutions, with lots of testing to make sure everything was done correctly. They went the extra mile to help us implement SARA’s Positioning System (SPS), and I was impressed with their level of professionalism.”

LCOH and Status Solutions worked together to set up points of interest with wireless repeaters throughout the facility and surrounding grounds, establishing the coverage area for SARA's Positioning System (SPS), a vector-mapping technology that provides location data for mobile duress devices. When a mobile pendant is activated, SARA sends an alert to the response team via their designated communication devices. The alert includes the approximate location of the alarm as well as the ID associated with the activated pendant.
LCOH also uses SARA for disaster preparedness and response. “We’ve been able to adopt the SARA technology to meet our organization’s needs, and it’s been 100 percent effective for us,” explains Chief Lonnie Snyder, chief of police and manager of protective services. “I can see it working in various kinds of facilities with great accuracy, but planning and testing is critical for success.”
